Powerful and deeply meaningful
‘Wrong all along’ I find it hard to focus on the song while watching the video, the production quality shows that this young lady is focused on her music and wants to provide a high quality music video to accompany her lovely voice. A very nice touch indeed, especially in the day and age of cheap YouTube ready cameras…
The tense setting created by the music works very well with the lyrics, an isolating experience and the anger felt for it; never being able to avoid the situation, having to confront it and being strong enough to do so.
Yet nothing seems overly strong, the anger can be sensed and yet isn’t the main focus. It could of easily been over-enthusiastic, thankfully it isn’t and it allows her delicate and powerful voice to come through as the main focus. A well rounded and it slightly gives me a similar sensation to that of listening to Evanescence, a very powerful female vocal above what is a strong and focused sound.
‘Better Things to Do’
Better Things to Do is another well polished track from Katie, which seems to carry with it the same strong vocals and hard hitting style as ‘Wrong all along’ which was the first song from Katie that I heard. As such, many points raised about ‘Wrong all along’ are valid for this track.
I find the lyrics very catchy and often find myself spontaneously singing along in short bursts.
A brief listen to other tracks on her ReverbNation page show that she managed to carry a similar style, and she is definitely well worth a listen. Or two. Or three…
Overall, the music, vocals and videos provide an intense experience. Powerful and deeply meaningful, yet not overpowering or over-enthusiastic.
Well produced and showing a lot of future promise, I offer her the best of luck.
